Around the time of March 2004, PGSM's production company was in collaboration with Bandai toy merchandising. They held a large contest in Japan for kids who bought PGSM toy products. Proof of purchase of a PGSM merchandise had to be sent in for qualification.

The prize was very special. Out of everyone who sent in their contest entries, around 500 kids were chosen to be the audience of a live action PGSM musical. This musical would be known as Kirari Super Live. The cast members of PGSM performed before a live audience, sung, and danced. This DVD captured the event and even behind the scene moments, where everyone was rehearsing. Miyuu, Chisaki, Keiko, Mew, Ayaka, Shibby, Endou, Matsumoto, Masuo, Akira, Rina, and even SAE was in attendance! This DVD is a must-have for all PGSM fans!

PGSM's Kirari Super Live DVD

If I had to recommend one PGSM product for a fan to purchase, I would probably recommend the PGSM Visual Book, but the Kirari Super Live DVD would be my next choice. Even though it's a region 2 DVD, if you have a region-free DVD drive or player, this is definitely something to own for yourself. Despite not having English subtitles, the general storyline is easy to follow and most of the DVD itself involves live performances of the songs in PGSM which we are all familiar with. The first omake or bonus video clip has various behind-the-scenes shots of the actors and actresses rehearsing, goofing off, and offering commentary. The second omake clip features a discussion session with the actors and it's a bit more difficult to understand what they're saying.

The live performances are all very well done. Some of my favorites are the following:

Romance - It was great to see Chisaki in this version of Romance. I liked the version by Ayaka, but this live version was more fun because Chisaki and Miyuu both have a playfulness and enthusiasm that Ayaka has to struggle to portray.

Here We Go - This was a high-energy performance that really gets you in a cheering mode. The awesome hand sequence by Mew and Miyuu in the middle was spectacular. I'm sure this performance was on many people's "not to be missed" list.

Shitennou - In the middle of the DVD, we are greeted with the arrival of the Shitennou. This was another highlight of the DVD as the Shitennou interact directly with the audience. Kunzite in particular seemed to have a lot of fun and got along very well with the audience. One noteworthy portion of this act was Nephrite causing a girl in the audience to burst out in tears as he attempts to steal her away from her mother. Another noteworthy portion of the act was the arrival of Zoicite with his red mini-piano, which was a hit with everyone.

Friend - This was one of my favorite parts of the DVD, with the sailors dancing in unison and singing along to a very good song.

Omake #1 - Definitely the better of the 2 bonus video clips. The strange faces that Keiko, Chisaki, and Ayaka make in front of the camera are hilarious. In parts of this, we can see Nephrite singing and dancing to "Romance" with the hand motions - truly something not to be missed!

Anyway, I just want to reiterate that this DVD is well worth the cost. Go buy it!!!

Wow.... o.O;; Okay, I'll make my review short and sweet! XD I promise I won't write a novel. Kirari Super Live cracked me up. At first, I didn't wanna see it. I mean, it didn't really appealed that much to me. It felt sort of weird too. But after much encouragement from others, I finally sat down and watched it. I was very surprised at my reaction towards the whole show. It was VERY funny. Nephy must've scared the wits out of that kid. XD That was HILARIOUS!!! And Kunzite made a fan out of me! I was swooning all over him. When he was fighting with his fake plastic Lord of the Rings sword on stage and I saw it bend, I was laughing like crazy.

I thought the best performance of the night must've been by Miyuu and Mew for Here We Go. The singing, dancing, choreography and energy put into the performance "wow'd" me. I was cheering them on. I thought out of all the girls though, best voice singing live would have to go to Chisaki. Her voice was very loud, clear, and on key. Rather, I was most disappointed by Ayaka's performance. I mean, out of all the girls, PGSM released the MOST songs for her. But when she was on stage, she looked like she had no energy and was going to pass out soon.

Overall, buy the DVD. ^.^;; Its highly amusing. The costumes are cute too! Will be great for generations of cosplayers to come.

First things first. What is up with the elf costumes? Did the designer forget to come to the show? Although my Ayaka and Chisaki make very kawaii elves!! I'll review this by segmants.

  • C'est La Vie: "My Favorite song!" A great musical opening. Good Dance moves and upbeat. Good job!
  • Ami & Rei: Chisaki is so cute and sexy in this!!! She is also a very good singer and dancer as well. You can tell Keiko was really getting into it jumping up and down having fun. Sorry to say though Keiko was SO off key. *Keiko fans starts to attack me* Ouch! They did good!
  • Here We Go: This is so much fun to watch!!! Mew and Miyuu are so good together! They bring life to the stage! Dance moves were fun and perfectly syncronized and the song is so upbeat! It's great! Two thumbs up!
  • Mako, Rei, and Minako: Wow! Mew is a really good singer! I didn't even know she used to be in a singing group till afterwards either. Go Mew! My Ayaka after the song pics up. KAWAII!!! XOXOXO I could play that part all day long! Keiko I'm begging, stop with the high notes! Good, for a slow song.
  • Romance: "My other favorite song!" Upbeat, dance moves are excellent, and all the girls are so cute! Miyuu is great, Chisaki is adorable as always, and Ayaka...well you know me....*__* *swoons* Marry me Ayaka! *Hits repeat button*
  • Shinnetou: PIANO PIANO PIANO PIANO..PIANO! (I couldn't resist!) These guy are absolutly hilarious!!! Seeing them having so much fun is great! Interaction with the audience was good, except a little girl was crying and Nephy should left her alone. Zoi with the piano controlling Kunzite. HA! One to laugh at every time! Akira rocks!
  • Sweet Little Resistance: Boots are made for rockin and thats just what she does in em. Excellent job Luna and great stage presents! She is definitly going to go far in her career. Who new Luna could sing. The little girls also did well.
  • Kirari Sailor Dream: SAE is a great singer, very pretty, and I like her songs, but in this "BAD". I think she wasn't feeling too good. *Cringes* *FAST FORWARD*
  • Battle: Great "physical" fight scene! Except the some of the attacks were kinda cheesy. I know they couldn't do much, its live stage, but come on now..
  • My Best Friend: Rock on girls! Rock on! The best part of the show! Excellent Job girls!!! This "should" have been the ending of the show...
  • KSD (Senshis, SAE, and Shin.): Should have sung before Friend. Girls are great. SAE joins in. *runs* Shibby and dancing Akira! LOL! You can tell the other guys hated it!
  • Bonus: Making is so funny. Girls making faces in the camera and Nephy dancing to Romance. LOL! Guys interview-20 mins of goofing off while the girls tease em! HE HE!

O_O It's over! Rewind! Again! Extremely fun to watch! (cept SAE)
